A great series
What a great series so far. This is another new author for me & now I am hooked. This author caught my attention with book 1. In book 1 Pellucid Rose was an archeologist who found some ancient scrolls. When she found them, the God of secrets was called to re seal them in their tomb. That is how she met Harpoc. In book 2 Harpoc got Pell to go with him to his home and help him solve the mystery of how sealed secrets were being leaked. As Pell learned about the empire of secrets & spent time with Harpoc she knew she was falling for him. Pell never knew her parents & the only thing she had to remember them was a ring. In Harpocs world people noticed her ring & gave her strange looks after. Pell soon learned that she has magic. Harpoc has upset Pell before by keeping secrets from her & has promised to do better but he keeps it to himself that they are mated. As Pell learns about her magic & gets to know Harpocs group she starts to feel like she has a family for the first time. If you like stories with all kinds of different creatures. Sparky humor & magic then this is for you. It has great characters & a great plot. I am now a huge L R W Lee fan. My favorite author list is growing.

Lee knows how to spin a story, especially through detail. One of the major drawing points of Empire of Secrets was the vivid descriptions Lee wove into each page. They helped liven and enriched the overall story. Just as with Empire of Ash, secrets and mystery remain a key component as Pell reaches new levels of self discovery. I yearned to learn more about what was hiding beneath the surface and Lee rewarded me bit by bit, just enough to keep me reading and wondering. While there were moments of dullness and lulls in the plot, the good moments move the story along enough to keep this book from simply being an average joe 3. Overall, Empire of Secrets was a good sequel that focused more on character development than plot action. This can make for a boring novel, but Lee has managed to combine detail, humor, and romance into a compelling enough story to keep readers up into the night finding out all the secrets they can discover. So get comfy and pick up Empire of Secrets to find out just what is in store for Pell and Harpoc in the land of secrets and what they will do when faced with the truth.
